FAQs
How do I schedule an appointment with you?
Check out the Booking Info page for up to date information! Sending a booking request is always the best way!
What are your rates?
You can view my Pricing guide here. Tattoos are quoted by the individual piece, not an hourly rate. The price will depend on size, level of detail and placement on the body. Certain areas of the body are more difficult to tattoo and will take longer. Examples include ribs, neck, fingers or hands and sternum.
A day sitting ( for sleeves or large scale work) starts at $1750 AUD. This is a 6 hour day of work. Larger pieces and half sleeves can be completed in a day or long day but may require 2 full days. If you want a leg sleeve/full sleeve or backpiece please expect multiple day sittings.
The minimum charge is $350. This is due to the cost of equipment, set up and time for each piece. Additional pieces within the same session will receive a discounted rate, please see the Pricing Guide for more info.
Cash or card payment is accepted. Please note that card payments incur a 2% surcharge (that’s $2 per $100) Direct transfer is available if you want to avoid the processing fee.
Deposits are between $150- 500 depending on the size of your piece/length of the session and is valid for 2 years. A day sitting requires a $500 deposit. Deposits are put towards the final price and you will pay the balance remaining on the day.
Deposits are non refundable, but may be used to re-schedule an appointment with enough notice (explained further down the page) and within 2 years. A maximum of 1 reschedule is permitted before your deposit is forfeited.
The deposit covers time interacting with you, preparing your design and securing your booking. A lot of preliminary work goes into your tattoo before the appointment and this is not free. Deposits are in place to protect me as an artist in the event that you cancel or renegade on our agreement. Please think carefully before booking a session.
I can't travel to you - Can I commission a drawing to have tattooed by someone else?
Can I get a design you've already done tattooed?
Short answer - no. You should work with an artist whose skills you trust and respect, if you trust their skills to reproduce my drawing, then trust them to create an original drawing. If you do bring an image of a tattoo to a tattoo artist who did not design it and they agree to copy it, not only will you not get what you expect, they are also demonstrating their questionable values.
Almost all designs you see of mine are original designs for clients and are strictly not to be reproduced.
Are you coming to my city soon?
I post regular updates on social media if I have travel plans. Now that I have my own studio in Sydney, it’s highly unlikely that I will be doing any regular guest spots. Follow along on IG: @claire.everywhere for the most up to date announcements.
I'm going to be in town for a short amount of time when you are - can I get a tattoo?
Due to the frequency of this situation, I am now offering a special Express Booking. This is not intended to replace traditional booking, but if you are in a time crunch, I will attempt to accommodate your request for an additional fee. Please visit the Express Booking page for details.
I e-mailed you yesterday and haven't heard back - when will I hear back?
.My admin assistant Paula deals with most of my emails and will only ask me for advice if its something she can’t answer. She doesn’t work full time so expect to wait a few days (or longer during busy periods such as when I open my books/do flash drops) I generally have a 6-9 month waiting period for an appointment so if you expect a quick tattoo I’d recommend looking at other artists. Please allow at least a week for a response unless your appointment is within the next 48 hours. Try to avoid sending double emails as our email system means you will go to the back of the queue and check you’ve entered your information carefully before pressing send. Thanks for your patience!
What do I need to tell you about my design?
I can create original artwork based on whatever you give me and basic information I ask for is size, placement and a brief description of your idea.
As flattering as it is, I can't work with "I like everything you do, I'll let you do whatever you want." Sorry!
When describing the piece that you want, try to think if you want "flowers" or if you want "jasmine flowers, gum leaves and two peonies"
Both descriptions are enough for me to work with, but will affect the drawing that you get!
If you have reference images, photos, other tattoos you admire, your Pinterest, etc, that all helps me know what you are thinking, it even helps to send over a little doodle of what you're thinking and I'll make it a reality.
If you're not sure how to describe the style you're interested in, include an image of an existing piece and say "I like this style."
Please be aware that I do not work with colour and only tattoo with black ink. Coloured work doesn’t align with my personal style at this moment in time and so I will only take on work that doesn’t include any colour elements. I choose to work with people who’s ideas I get a good feeling about, this doesn’t reflect on you if I don’t pick your idea to tattoo. It simply means that I’m not sure I can do my best work and I want you to have the best possible outcome. Sometimes I’m not the right artist for the job!
What if I don't like the drawing? Can I change it?
Of course! It's going on your body forever and I want you to be happy. You will only see the drawing on the day of the appointment. Most of the time I sit with you when you come in for your appointment and draw there and then so that we can communicate effectively. Designs are never sent out via email, enough time is always allocated during the session to make adjustments.
I draw very quickly! Minor changes to your design idea are accommodated at my discretion. If the change requires more than half of the drawing to be re-drawn or excessive revisions made, there will be an additional drawing fee of $100 and your appointment may have to be rescheduled to allow for design changes. You will also incur this fee if you change your design ideas before your appointment. I book people in based on their ideas and I choose very carefully. You risk your booking being cancelled or deposit forfeited if you switch ideas after your appointment has been confirmed. (This is why it's important to thoroughly consider your design before beginning the design process!) I spend time before your session researching the design elements and composition which makes it easy for me to draw when the time comes. It’s hard to explain how my drawing process works but if you hit me with a last minute major change it will throw me off kilter and I’ll need time to re-imagine the design.
What kind of ink do you use? Is it vegan?
All of my inks are vegan and use plant based glycerin. My tattoo process and products are also as vegan friendly as possible. Most tattoo ink these days are vegan friendly as standard. I do not use any brand of coloured inks at this moment, only black. I can provide safety sheets for the ink I use if requested.
I'm scheduled and I'm excited for my tattoo - now what?
Stay hydrated, eat well, get lots of rest! If you have received your confirmation email you do not need to email me again unless you need to inform me of major changes or a cancellation. Take care of yourself the week before getting a tattoo, the day of, and throughout the healing process.
On the day of your tattoo make sure you eat breakfast/lunch, bring photo ID and please pack some snacks if it's going to be a long session. We have basic kitchen facilities if needed. Avoid alcohol, blood-thinning medications, and limit caffeine consumption on the day of your tattoo ( you can have a coffee but don’t have 3!)
Avoid coming in hungover and do not use numbing cream - it will hurt more during the process and won't heal as well afterward. Think about where on your body you are being tattooed and be prepared to remove clothing. Often I have clients come in wearing inappropriate clothing and if you’re uncomfortable with nudity it can cause a bit of a headache. I will need full access to the area I’m tattooing and the surrounding body parts. You can bring a sarong/scarf/something to change into that will make it easier or stick on bras and nipple pasties are great if you’re having your torso tattooed. If you wear white or light colours they may get dirty. Tattooing involves ink, lotions and other products that may stain so my advice is don’t come in your best white tee!
Please do not arrive early, just be on time! The 10 minutes before your appointment are usually the only minutes I get to eat/use the bathroom. Often I’m working on more than one client per day, and if you are late it may shift the entire schedule. I advise to not schedule other appointments or commitments close to your tattoo booking. Tattoo timing is very difficult to predict and often a tattoo session will take much longer (or occasionally shorter) than estimated.
I cannot be responsible for missed or late appointments booked on the day of your tattoo and will not rush through a booking, a tattoo is a lifetime mark!
I can't make my appointment! What can I do? What happens to my deposit if I cancel?
Deposits are non refundable. With at least 48 hours notice, your deposit may be used to reschedule to another date within 2 years. A maximum of 1 reschedules are permitted before your deposit is forfeited. If you cancel your appointment with less than 48 hours notice you are forfeiting your entire deposit. The appointment must be rescheduled within 2 years or you will forfeit your deposit.
Of course sometimes things do come up beyond any of our control, and I'm not a mean person - please communicate and tell me as soon as possible. I require at least 24 hours notice if you’re sick and will only reschedule in the case of sickness if I’m able to fill your appointment, I won’t bend the rules if you waste my time. As a small business I won’t survive if I don’t uphold my deposit policy.
If the appointment is cancelled from our end due to unforeseen circumstances (I could be sick, injured or have family emergencies ) then your deposit can either be refunded within 30 days or used to book another session within 12 months. I know it’s disappointing if your session is cancelled but I don’t take that lightly. I’m only human and neither of us want me to tattoo when I’m feeling sub -par or not up to it so please try to be understanding.
